MARGAO: Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Damu Naik has termed as mere rumours the news of political instability doing the rounds in the State.
Blaming the Congress for spreading false news on the imminent fall of the BJP-led Manohar Parrikar government, Damu said the Congress has been involved in spreading rumours against the party government from day one.
“There’s no truth in the news that the Parrikar government would collapse. They are just rumours spread by the Congress leaders”, he said.
“Since day one, the Congress has been working overtime to spread similar news about the fall of the government. By spreading these rumours, may be the party wants to keep its flock together”, he said.
Secondly, Damu said the Congress may be spreading the rumours with an ulterior motive to send signals and blackmail the bureaucracy that the party is on its way to return to power.
“The Congress is deliberately trying to spread false news of instability so as to send wrong signals to the bureaucracy and get their work done. Though the people of Goa have voted for a parivartan by routing the Congress, the same bureaucracy is working in the State. The Congress appears sending confusion signals by spread baseless news about political instability”, he added.

MARGAO: Accusing the Congress of levelling baseless allegations that Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar’s son got his mutation done within 24 hours, BJP spokesman Damu Naik on Saturday dared the Congress to lodge a complaint before the Lokayukta for a detailed probe.
Saying that the Congress should not stoop to low level in its attack against the government, Damu asserted that it had taken four days not 24 hours to get the mutation done for the Chief Minister’s son.
“The mutation was done in Sanguem, where unlike Salcete; hardly any applications come for mutations. In fact, statistics revealed that around eight applications for mutations were cleared by the Sanguem Mamlatdar office within 24 hours”, he said, while demanding to know why the Congress is only targeting the CM’s son when it had taken four days to complete the process.
He dared the Congress to seek information under the RTI to find out how many land deals involving its leaders were cleared within hours during its tenure.
“The Congress is only involved in a publicity stunt. Despite clarifications, the Congress continues to make baseless allegations,” he said.
