The only goal of the match happened in the first session of play. Both the sides displayed some enterprising soccer, building up some fine moves which unfortunately fizzled out on entering the danger zone.
It was PVC Association who had the first crack at the rival goal when in the 11th minute, Lourenco Fernandes on getting hold of the ball unleashed a powerful left footer which just sailed over the Valpoi FC cross piece.
In the very next minute, Valpoi FC came close to scoring. However, Mohammad Khan’s header from close range missed the target narrowly.
After a series of missed chances PVC Association broke the deadlock in the 30th minute of play when Rowell Pinto gave a lovely through pass right inside the 6-yard box to Atish Mandrekar, who neatly got the better of the keeper Suresh Lamani and slotted the ball into the nets, 1-0.
Five minutes later, Valpoi FC almost levelled terms. However, PVC Association keeper Yogendra Narvekar made a brilliant save to keep away Mohammad’s power-packed strike.
Crossing over, Valpoi FC tried their level best to get back into the match. However, the much need goal eluded them until the very end.
