Trees and plants beautify a city. Besides this, they are also considered as the lungs of the city. Trees and plants absorb Carbon Dioxide from the atmosphere and give out Oxygen. That is the reason emphasis needs to be laid on growing more trees and plants. However, this does not seem to be the case in the port town of Vasco. For example, this traffic island in the heart of the town has been void of greenery for quite some time. Many road-dividers, especially at the market-place are bereft of plants. They provide a sore sight. Saplings should have been planted during the monsoon season. This was not done. However, it is never too late to improve the green cover of the town.
The civic body needs to carry out a massive drive to grow plants in all road-dividers and traffic islands. More importantly, these plants need to be maintained by watering them regularly.
