Navelim Sporting Club secured a first half solitary goal win over Sporting Club of Davorlim 1-0 to enter the semi-final of 33rd Cana Benaulim Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Cana Benaulim Sporting Club at Dando ground, Benaulim on Monday . The lone goal came in the 23rd minute through Vikas Dale.
Navelim were the deserving side as they had better share of exchanges and stamped their class as their forwards and midfielders worked in tandem to put tremendous pressure on the rival citadel.
Striker Vikas Dale bulged the net after he received a through pass from Domnic Carvalho in the 23rd minute.
Crossing over, Sporting Club of Davorlim put up a better display but failed to get past the Navelim Sporting defenders.
Navelim had few scoring chances but their forwards messed up once inside the rival territory.
The Navelim defence marshalled by Caitano Pereira and Joao Pereira showed solidity at the back and never allowed the rival attackers any space to manoeuvre inside their territory .In the dying minutes, Sporting Club of Davorlim came close but the rival defenders were alert in frustrating their raids.
Pascoal Fernandes of Sporting club of Davorlim was declared man-of-the match.
