In a major burglary, unknown miscreants barged into the house of one Gopinath Raikar at Modsai behind Holy Spirit Church and decamped with cash and other valuables worth around Rs 2.40 lakh.
The miscreants are believed to have gained entry into the house through the ventilator, throwing up serious questions on the efficacy of the Margao police to keep the miscreants at bay.
Margao police said that the miscreants stole away cash of Rs 88,000, besides a gold chain, finger rings, silver articles, three watches and a mobile phone.
This is not the first time that the culprits have targeted residential houses at bay catching the Margao police unawares.
And, blame it on the manpower shortage or intelligence failure, the Margao police has literally failed to detect the dozens of theft case reported across the city in recent times.
