In an interim relief to embattled Comunidades, the Goa Bench of Bombay High Court has directed the State government to convene the statutory convention of all Comunidades under Article 652 of Comunidade Code before November 7, 2009.
The Court was hearing a petition filed by Celestino Noronha and two other Comunidade shareholders challenging several irregularities in the age-old institutions.
Notice of the convention is to be published in major newspapers within a month.
Accepting the plea of petitioners, Counsel F E Noronha, the Division Bench of the Court opined that interim relief by way of convening of the Comunidades Convention would suffice.
The matter is placed for further hearing in December.
