A team of 25 workers led by municipal market inspector Anil Shirodkar cleared encroachments by handcarts that were blocking free flow of traffic and pedestrian movements.
A truck load of tarpaulin, chairs, tables and extensions of carts were confiscated and cleared by the MMC during the drive.
Three cart owners have been directed to remove their belongings along with the cart by Friday, failing which, the municipality has threatened to confiscate them.
“We have written to the MMC seeking permission to conduct more such raids to prevent encroachments,” Shirodkar said.
