ASSOLDA-PARODA: Host St Anthony Sports Club Assolda defeated Mandopa Sporting Club 3-2 to move into the final of the 11th St Anthony Festival Cup, organised by St Anthony Sports Club Assolda, at Assolda Panchayat ground, on Thursday.
Both teams played the match on attacking mode which was witnessed by over 600.
Assolda’s Succor Fernandes netted the first goal with a power-packed shot in the 23rd minute.
In the 42nd minute, Victorino Fernandes doubled the account for Assolda.
At the other end, Brendon Gomes pulled a goal back for Mandopa in the 50th minute.
However, Victorino Fernandes completed his brace scoring his team’s third in the 55th minute. Mandopa played attacking football and managed to reduce the margin as Aulon Gomes scored to make it 2-3.
The full-time score remained in favour of St Anthony Sports Club.
St Assolda Sports Club Assolda will meet Curtorim Gymkhana in the final on June 30.
