Workshop on Waldorf Education
PANJIM: The last of a series of 5 workshops on Waldorf Education in Goa, will be held at Backyard, behind Paper Boat on Chogm Road from 5 pm to 7 pm on March 23.
Keshar Academy of Learning or KAL located near Bogmalo and headed by Liza Sreedharan, also offers Cambridge International syllabus for high school students.
Liza will elaborate on Waldorf education and a few parents of children studying at KAL, including a Dutch University lecturer and a recent alumnus will share their experiences. Madgaum School Complex panel elected
PANJIM: The panel led by Kisan Phadte, Chairman of the Madgaum School Complex Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, Margao, was declared elected unopposed for the year 2014-2019 by the Returning Officer Pandurang Balaji Naik of the office of South Goa Asst Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Margao.
Members elected include Chairman Kisan Phadte, Dr Sanjay Sawant Desai, Vithoba Desai, Dr Gunaji S Desai, Peter Gomes, Roshan D Naik, Uday N S Talwadker, Sarita Fernandes and Ummer Muttawali. Nafisa Almeida and Lourencia Rebello e Vaz were coopted on the Board of Directors of the Society.
ISKCON observes Appearance Day
MAYEM: International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), Sanquelim unit, celebrated Bhagwan Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Appearance Day at ‘Bhaktikutir’ Tuilshimala, Sanquelim. Brahmachari Govind Datt Das from Italy delivered Prawachan on the life of Lord Krishna, where he called upon the followers to chant ‘Hare Krishna’ to achieve eternal peace. About 200 followers were present.
Earlier, Nagarsankirtan of devotees was carried out from Sanquelim hospital to Kutir.
St Xavier’s wins advertising event
PANJIM: St Xavier College, Mapusa, won first place at the national-level advertising event titled ‘Mad About Advertising’ held on March 15 & 16, organized by KLE Society’s CBALC (College of Business Administration, Lingaraj College), Belgaum.
24 BBA colleges participated. Riddhish Panchigar, Fred D’souza, Kyle Ferrao and Ishita Godinho of the BBA department excelled for St Xavier College at ‘Strato’ that focused on strategy and conceptualization; ‘Creto’ with emphasis on creativity and advertising design and ‘Medio’ which was based on media planning and execution.
The guest of honor was Dr Vishnukanth S Chatpalli, chairman of MBA and special officer of Rani Chanamma University, Belgaum. The event coordinator was Nitin Patil.
School in Chicalim catches fire
DABOLIM: Property worth Rs 1.50 lakh was destroyed in a fire at Navy Children’s School, Chicalim, on Wednesday.
According to Vasco fire officials, they received a call at about 4 pm from the school authorities stating that a fire had broken out on the first floor of the school due to an electrical short circuit.
The fire officials said a CPU, projector, podium and two glass windows were damaged in the fire and the total estimated damages were about Rs 1.50 lakh. The fire personnel doused the fire before it could spread further.
The fire officials further informed that they used one fire tender and foam to douse the fire, while the Navy dispatched two fire tenders as emergency measures.
