PANJIM: The Children’s Court on Thursday rejected the bail application filed by Renu Halapati, who has been charged with inflicting burn injuries on a nine-year-old child in a day care centre at Vasco.
The accused is said to be absconding as Vasco police, soon after the court verdict, rushed to her house to arrest her but it was found locked. The woman had also not appeared in court when the verdict was delivered.
Halapati allegedly burnt the hands of a boy who was kept in her daycare centre Myra at Chicalim. He was assaulted with a spatula. The boy initially tried to hide the facts as the teacher had warned him of bad consequences if he disclosed her name to his parents. He, however, opened up to his parents on the incident. The accused has been charged under sections of IPC and Goa Children’s Act.
