PANIM: On a day when Goa Congress held functions across the State to honour the 75th birth anniversary of former Rajya Sabha MP late Shantaram Naik, his wife Beena Naik, who is the interim president of the Goa Mahila Congress criticised AAP for its statement on former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar.
She was reacting to the statements made by Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and AAP national leader Manish Sisodia, who had spoken about the party wanting to carry forward Parrikar’s legacy. She also touched upon former Mahila Congress Chief Adv Pratima Coutinho joining AAP.
“I am happy that just two days after a local BJP functionary from Margao openly admitted that Adv Pratima had joined BJP via AAP, today Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has come clear that AAP is nothing but the B Team of BJP which wants to carry forward the agenda of Parrikar and BJP,” said Beena.
She claimed that Goa started moving towards a financial emergency after Parrikar took charge as Chief Minister in 2012 and that his chosen heir, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has pushed Goa into bankruptcy. She added that Goans are not fools to be misled by the rhetoric of AAP.
“The entire tenure of Goa’s former Chief Minister and India’s former Defence Minister was full of corrupt administration, U-turns and politics of convenience. Cracks and potholes on Atal Setu Bridge is a living example of Parrikar’s corrupt legacy,” said Beena.
“Today, on the 75th birth anniversary of my husband, I urge Sisodia and AAP to go through the corruption cases and irregularities, which took place during Parrikar’s tenure. Goa Lokayukta gave orders to the current BJP Government of investigating 21 cases of irregularities, most of which were during Parrikar’s tenure,” she added.
She listed various alleged scams that happened during Parrikar’s tenure.
“Parrikar also has the rare distinction of being one of the best U-turn masters who did flip-flops on his own decisions and announcements for his selfish political convenience,” she added.
