MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza inaugurated a three-day conference SPINE 2015 at a private resort in Cavelossim on Friday, organized by the Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association of India.
As many as 450 delegates from all over the country are participating in the conference.
D’Souza conferred the Professor P S Ramani lifetime achievement award to Dr Mohamad Safari Haspani from Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. He also presented awards to Abd Elhafiz Shehab Eldien from Egypt, Dr Aloysius Bambang Darwono from Indonesia, Dr Jung Keun from South Korea and Dr Yoshtaka Hirano from Japan.
While the award was presented posthumously to Dr Andre Susilo from Indonesia and the young neurosurgeon fellow 2015 was presented to Dr Misbahu ahmad from Nigeria.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the Dy CM focused on the size of Goa state and expressed concern over the rising vehicle population and said that the ratio of vehicles in Goa is very high for a small population living in the boundaries of Goa spanning 105 km in length and about 65 kms in width
