The Margao police on Thursday has claimed to have solved around 10 theft case that were reported in the Commercial Capital in the last  few days.
The police said the arrest of miscreants from the two gangs in the last two days have helped the men-in-uniform to achieve a breakthrough in the spate of thefts and burglaries.
Margao Police station incharge, PI Santosh Desai told newsmen said the police has arrested two separate gangs involved in burglaries.
One of the gangs, he said is based in Panjim and had made Margao their base in their operations following pressure mounted on them by their Panjim police counterparts.
He said the eight member gang of thieves have confessed having committed thefts in 10 house breaking thefts in the city.
The Margao police has said that another gang was caught red handed on December 8 night when they were trying to barge into a shop near Cine Vishant, Aquem.
PI Desai said that the accused were in possession of house breaking implements to bend the shutters, and provided the names of the accused as Anton Pillai, Radhu  and Chetan Chari, all from Panjim.
He said the accused are being interrogated by the police to ascertain their role in similar thefts and burglaries elsewhere in the state .
Replying to a question, he said ruled out the question of the two gangs involved in the recent Temple thefts, adding that the miscreants have been mostly involved in house breaking thefts.
