PANJIM: The Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have demanded an investigation into the alleged scuffle between two BJP MLAs, at Goa Niwas, New Delhi. While the NCP called Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as the “most irresponsible CM,” the Congress asked how he could protect the people if he could not control his own MLAs.
“What happened in the restaurant of Goa Nowas was in front of witnesses. It was a murderous attack in which an attempt to murder should have been booked,” GPCC chief John Fernandes who is in Delhi for the AICC meet told media, adding, “The super specialty hospital where the MLA was treated should have treated this like a medico-legal case.”
Fernandes said that he would meet the home minister on Monday and ask for a suo moto investigation into the incident even as he asked: “if Parrikar cannot control his MLAs how can he protect the people?”
Meanwhile, the NCP also alleged that the government was not serious about the safety of his legislators as this is the second incident after BJP’s St Andre legislator Vishnu Surya Wagh was attack in Tivim last month.
NCP alleged that the BJP MLA Kiran Kandolkar was behind the two attacks alleging that “He (Kandolkar) was demanding commission from Faldesai over the distribution of tablets in Bardez taluka (probably sent by the Centre to distribute in primary health centres). Since Faldesai had refused, this attack was planned on him.”
The NCP has slammed the Goa government for not initiating action against Kandolkar for the Wagh incident, arguing that if it had done so the second attack would not have taken place.
NCP also distributed photos of a shirt soaked in blood, allegedly worn by Phaldesai at the time of the attack, arguing that the BJP was “imploding” as its MLAs are fighting among themselves.
