PANJIM: TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Friday said his party Goa Forward will take strict action, including a dharna, if pharmaceutical company Cipla does not employ Goans.
“Cipla, operating in Goa, is advertising and recruiting staff from neighbouring states when thousand of locals are unemployed here,” Sardesai told reporters.
The minister said he will take up the issue with Chief MInister Manohar Parrikar and request him to take strict action.
“I have come to understand after taking over the Factories and Boilers portfolio how much the state is giving to the industries. The industries need to employ locals to repay the government,” he said.
Sardesai threatened that if the company continues to employ migrants then Goa Forward Party will not hesitate to agitate. “We may have to come on the road. As a minister I should not say this but sometimes we need to,” he said.
GF spokesperson Trajano D’Mello said that Goans should get 80 percent reservation in terms of vacancies in all industries. “We strongly object to the attitude of the industries that have courage to go and advertise in Karnataka to fill vacancies,” he said.
D’Mello said that ‘Cipla’ based in Goa has advertised in Karnataka to fill various vacancies which shows the anti-Goan attitude of the company.
