PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has appealed to Goans travelling abroad for employment to approach only certified recruitment agents and follow Central guidelines so as to prevent themselves from being cheated.
“It is an appeal to Goans going abroad or aspiring to go abroad for work to follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. It is a must to acquire the required skill, go through proper registered channels & agents to get a job abroad,” he said in a social media post.
The CM advised the citizens to get in touch with Indian Embassy, High Commission, Consultants and the Friends of Indians in foreign countries immediately on arrival in foreign countries.
The job seekers are also advised to not fall prey to illegal recruitment agents and to avoid carrying parcels given to them by unknown persons; else it could land one in trouble on foreign soil.
In his message to the public to ‘go safe and with required skill for the particular job,’ CM has made public toll free number 1800113090 for obtaining further details.
The State has recorded a few cases of cheating wherein foreign job aspirants have been duped of money and illegal recruitment agents decamped with their passport and other relevant documents required for job and travel purpose.
