Rivona residents heave a sigh of relief after Forest Department traps elusive leopard

SANGUEM: The leopard that unleashed a reign of terror at Donole ward of Rivona village was finally trapped after many days of exerted efforts by the Forest Department officials, much to the relief of the frightened villagers.

A few days back, the leopard under the cover of darkness stalked and pounced on a couple of two wheelers and a four wheeler and injured many people. One Mohan Wadekar was badly injured due to the leopard attack while his brother Pradeep who was riding pillion suffered bruises on his leg as both fell off the two wheeler. Ever since then, villagers lived in fear of the prowling cat.

Forest Officials thereafter placed a cage in the area to trap the leopard and last night managed to nab the elusive cat.

Officials from the Forest Department stated that  veterinary expert will examine the big cat.
