MAYEM: Ghumteshwar Warriors emerged champions of late Suresh and Avinash Pai Kuchelkar memorial cricket tournament organized by MSP Lions, Sakhali, at Sakhali municipal ground, recently. The winners defeated MSP Lions by 44 runs.
Ghumteshwar cash prize of Rs 40,000 and a trophy while the runner-up had to be content with Rs 25,000 and a trophy. Ghumteshwar scored 188 for 7 in 20 overs. In reply, MSP could manage to score only 144 for 7.
Semi-final losers, Vividha SC and Oxford Club were also given prizes. Sani Sawant (MSP) was adjudged man-of-the-series, Amar Araksar (Ghumteshwar) was adjudged man-of-the-match and Best batsman.
Raju Dabholkar (Ghumteshwar) received Best bowler, Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar and Damodar Redkar as Best wicket-keeper.
Prizes were distributed by SMC chairperson Dharmesh Saglani, senior citizen Bhimrao Desai, Brahmanand Desai and Mahendra Pai Kuchelkar. Shyam Pai Kuchelkar and Prashant Fatarpekar were felicitated on the occasion.
