PANJIM: The Department of Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Institute a Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, to explore opportunities for enhancing the wellness and medical tourism landscape in Goa, leveraging the rich heritage oaf Ayurveda.
The MoU was signed by Prof Dar Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa and Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism and Managing Director of GTDC.
The alliance between the Department of Tourism and the AIIA presents an exciting opportunity to synergise efforts in promoting wellness tourism that integrates Ayurveada practices. Through this collaboration, both entities are poised to embark on various initiatives aimed at bolstering the infrastructure, facilities, and promotional activities associated with wellness tourism.
Anchipaka stated, “By joining forces with the AIIA, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting wellness tourism that integrates Ayurveda and other traditional medicinal practices into our tourism offerings. This collaboration not only enriches the tourism landscape of Goa but also aligns with our vision of providing visitors with holistic and transformative experiences.”
Dr Nesari, said, “The collaboration between the Department of Tourism and AIIA presents a thrilling opportunity to synchronise endeavours in promoting wellness tourism that incorporates Ayurveda and other indigenous healing methods. AIIA under support of Ministry of AYUSH will contribute to develop Goa as AYUSH Medical Tourism destination.
Collaborative efforts will be directed towards promoting wellness tourism initiatives that incorporate AYUSH and will also explore avenues for enhancing existing wellness facilities and infrastructure in Goa, ensuring a world-class experience for wellness tourists. Efforts will be made to facilitate training and capacity-building programs for professionals in the wellness and healthcare sectors.
