MARGAO: In an interesting development, the Town and Country Planning department has withdrawn a letter written to the South Goa Planning and Development Authority proposing minor changes in the Outline Development Plan (ODP) for Margao.
The government’s proposal has kicked up a storm with the proposal finding no favour with the MLAs of Margao and Fatorda, Digambar Kamat and Vijai Sardesai respectively. In fact, the duo had raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly expressing their serious reservations to the government’s proposal on grounds that the ODP, once finalised, cannot be made open for changes.
After the PDA meeting, MLA Vijai Sardesai told the media that though they had finally agreed for minor changes including changes in roads, the government has finally withdrawn the proposal for effecting minor changes and rectification in the ODP.
“We had opposed the government move that an ODP is not open for effecting changes once finalised. We had made it clear to the government that there cannot be any change in zones under the guise of effecting minor changes to the ODP’, he added.
