The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen sharply, with Nepal Police reporting 538 deaths on Friday, according to AFP. Emergency teams have recovered 482 bodies so far, while more than 1,400 people remain missing.
Hundreds of foreigners are among those unaccounted for. Indians reportedly make up the largest group of missing foreign nationals, while the United States said 90 of its citizens were out of contact following Wednesday’s disaster.

The floods struck Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Tibet border, sweeping away villages and damaging roads, bridges and power infrastructure. Rescue and recovery operations have been hampered by difficult terrain and damaged access routes.
Across the border in Tibet, Chinese state media confirmed five deaths linked to the disaster. The region remains largely inaccessible to foreign journalists, leaving Chinese authorities as the main source of information.
