A spirited Navelim Villagers Union scored a solitary-goal victory over Verna Sports Club to march into the final of Arlem Cup football tournament, organised by Sporting Club of Davorlim at Raia grounds, on Tuesday.
Both teams set a fast pace as they went on the offensive from the opening whistle and there was plenty of action in front of both goals.
After the change of ends, Navelim Villagers showed some urgency towards the midway in the second half when former Dempo striker Sukhdev Arwade whacked the ball past Verna goalkeeper.
After scoring the match, Navelim completely shut shop and sandbagged their defence in a bid to defend their lead.
