Athletic trials at Campal
PANJIM: The trials to select the Goa squad for 47th National Cross Country Championship for under-16 and under-18 boys and girls and under-20 and above 20 men and women organized by Athletic Federation of India on February 2 at Chhapra, Bihar will be organized by Goa Athletic Association on January 5 at Campal, here, at 3 p.m.
The competition will be held under the following categories: Men: 12km. Women: 8km. U-20 junior men: 8km. U-20 junior women: 6km. Boys U-18: 6km. Girls U-18: 4km. Boys U-16: 3km. Girls U-16: 3km.
Those interested may report to Vrinda Vernekar or Devi Gaonkar or Patrick Scares or Shashi Kumar at the venue Campal, Panaji with their birth certificates.
Karate at Peddem
PANJIM: The 1st North Goa district level karate championship organized by all-Goa Karate-Do Association recognized by SAG will be held on January 6 at Peddem, Mapusa.
Only karate styles affiliated and recognized by All India Karate-Do Federation (AIKF) and All Goa Karate-Do Association (AGKA) will be allowed.

Chess at Ponda
PANJIM: The under-10 and above 10 and under-16 chess tournaments organized by Shri Sharada Vidhyalaya Kumbharjua ex-students and teachers association will be held on January 6 at SSV Government HS, Kumbharjua Hall, Ponda, at 9 a.m.
Entries may be submitted by January 5.
Meanwhile, the open tournament will be held on January 13 at the same venue. Entries may be submitted by January 12.
The winner and the runner-up will receive medals and cash prizes.
