MARGAO: Suraj Vernekar, South District Registrar Headquarters with additional charge of District Registrar South and Civil-cum-Sub Registrar Salcete, highlighted the importance of establishing a people-friendly Sub Registrar office during an event at Kare College of Law. He outlined key initiatives aimed at streamlining processes and enhancing citizen services.
Vernekar emphasised significant changes, including the facilitation of mutation of survey records directly at the Sub Registrar Office post-deed registration. He assured that purchasers would no longer need to visit the Mamlatdar office for mutation, provided certain conditions are met, such as the accurate recording of seller names in specific survey forms.

Moreover, Vernekar announced plans to expedite document issuance, ensuring that registered documents are provided to presenters within one working day from the registration date. He reiterated the commitment to transforming the registration office into a more accessible and efficient entity.
Vernekar also disclosed the swift approval process for online document and marriage registrations, emphasising the Sub Registrar Office’s efficiency in handling applications within a single working day.
In a bid to empower students and promote citizen assistance, Vernekar proposed training final-year law students in online application procedures for various registrations and drafting deeds for approval using NGDRS software. This initiative aims to equip students through the Legal Aid Cell to aid needy citizens, thereby reducing reliance on agents charging high fees for similar services.
