PANJIM: President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress, Adv Varad Mardolkar on Sunday demanded that the rustication orders of five interns of Goa Medical College and Hospital be revoked till the police investigation is complete.

Slamming government for its failure to curb the drugs trade, Mardolkar said it is not correct to rusticate the interns unless police enquiry is complete.
Addressing media persons outside GMC on the recent decision of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to rusticate the interns in the drugs case, Mardolkar appealed to the government that the rustication order be revoked.
Mardolkar blamed the Chief Minister, who holds the post of Home Ministry for allowing the free flow of drugs in Goa.
“How can Health Minister take a hasty decision of rusticating the five interns when the case is still under investigation,” questioned Youth Congress leader Naushad Chaudhari. He said, “As per the FIR of Agassaim Police Station, the 7 gms of substance was found in the common room. It has been registered against an unknown person.”
Mardolkar said, “Intake of drugs was restricted to rave parties and coastal belt, but emphazised that drugs have entered the villages of Goa and are freely available in other colleges, yet the police and other departments have turned a blind eye”. Adding he said that the CM and police are responsible for this and it is with their blessings that drugs are freely available “.
Mardolkar said, Goan youth will be finished if government fails to take action on this. “CM should direct police to take strict action on completely finishing the drug trade instead of just doing an eye-wash by catching hold of few students,” he added.
