NAVELIM: Chinchinim Veterans edged past Mark Caterers Veterans, Nuvem by 2-1 in the 1st all-Goa SAI Veterans Football Tournament organised by SAI veterans Football Association, at Navelim ground, on Sunday.
It was Chinchinm who took the lead with a goal scored by Dennis Cabral of a pass made by Jerry Fernandes.
Mark Caterers equalised through Damascene Pereira when his 20 yard power-packed shot gave no chance to the Chinchinim keeper.
Thereafter, Mark Caterers almost went doubled the lead when Marcus Carvalho headed in off a cross made by Mathew D’Costa but much to his surprise it was signalled offside.
In the dying minutes of the match, a fantastic move between the former Dempo greats Mario Soares and Orlando Vegas resulted in a goal as a pass by Mario was well converted by Orlando which gave no chance to Mark Caterers goalkeeper Monoj.
