VASCO: Four panachayats in Mormugao taluka — Chicalim, Bogmalo, Velsao and Cansaulim — are yet to receive bio-toilets under the programme to declare the State Open Defecation Free (ODF).
Velsao Sarpanch Henrique D’Mello said that his panchayat has not got bio-toilets. Cansaulim Sarpanch Marta Saldhana also informed that her panchayat has not received bio-toilets.
“Although Goa has been declared Open Defecation Free, our panchayat has not got bio-toilet,” she added.
Bogmalo Panch Laxman Kavlekar confirmed that his panchayat is yet to receive bio-toilet.
Chicalim panchayat Secretary Sainath Padwal said that although panchayat had applied for bio-toilets, it has not received them.
Meanwhile, Cortalim and Nagoa panchayat Secretary Sachin Naik informed that these two panchayats have received bio-toilets and they have been placed at various places. Quelossim and Verna panchayat secretary Narayan Ajgaonkar said that his panchayats have received bio-toilets and are put in use. Sancoale panchayat has installed bio-toilets next to panchayat ghar.
