COVID positivity rate remains as high as 15.18% with 473 fresh cases; deaths 14

PANJIM: The daily positivity rate that had dropped to 13 per cent last week, has once again witness a surge above 15 per cent in last two days. With 473 new COVID cases on Tuesday, the positivity rate stood at 15.18 per cent. 

Goa’s fatality count reached 2,859 that include 14 deaths reported in last 24-hours.

The under-reporting of COVID-19 related deaths by the private hospitals continued, with Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Tuesday adding five more death cases, reported since May 26, to the cumulative mortality tally. On Monday, DHS had counted 67 deaths reported in private hospitals, between August 5, 2020 and May 22, 202- that went unaccounted. 

As per DHS bulletin, five additional death cases were added to the cumulative mortality count, which were of the period from May 26 to June 5, 2021 and all from private hospitals. The three deaths were reported from Vision hospital, Mapusa, while one each from Trimurti Hospital and Horizon Hospital, Margao. 

The DHS has already informed that appropriate action under provisions of Public Health Act will be initiated against these hospitals.

As on date, 1, 60, 284 people have been infected with the virus, of which 1, 51, 526 have recovered, including 957 recoveries reported in last 24 hours. The State’s active cases tally stands at 5,899.
