MARGAO: Margao Municipal engineers will fan out to all 20 wards from Tuesday to carry out verification of all the sites to check duplication of works as alleged by a section of city fathers.
This follows directions issued by Chief Officer Deepali Naik on Monday to the municipal engineer based on a representation received from the 12-member group of councillors.
The directions were issued by the Chief Officer to the municipal engineer, Diniz D’Mello, with a further direction to submit the status report at the earliest.
Accordingly, the engineers holding charge of their respective wards are expected to start the work from Tuesday to ascertain whether the work tendered stands executed or not on the ground.
The e-tender floated during the tenure of outgoing Chairperson Arthur D’Silva had kicked up a row after the 12-member group of councillors demanded its scrapping alleging duplication of works. Arthur, however, had firmly denied the allegations.
MMC Chairperson Dayanand Deulkar told the media that things will be clear on the controversial e-tender after the municipal engineers submit their reports after verification of the sites.
