PONDA: The Ponda Municipal council during its meeting resolved to rethink on their decision to increase house tax after strong reactions from the public.
The councillors also discussed and resolved to erect statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in the city, and supply water to households within the municipality’s jurisdiction by water tankers.
The meet was chaired by Ritesh Naik. Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, Chief Officer Yogiraj Gosavi, Inspector Uday Desai, Deputy Chairperson Archana Dangui and other councillors were also present.
The decision to erect the statues was taken after a request from Yugnayak organisation. Chairperson Naik informed the media that the statues will be erected next to Lal Bahadur Shastri’s statue.
