MARGAO: Baida ‘B’ beat Secreavaddo Boys 3-2 in a thrilling final to emerge champions in the Chinchinim Floodlit inter ward football tournament at CRC Ground, Chinchinim on Sunday.
Both the teams were tied 1-1 at half time. Selvy Fernandes broke the deadlock with a powerful shot to put Baida ahead in the tournament. Secreavaddo Boys equalised through Valsyn Conceicao when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot. In the 2nd half Baida showed greater urgency and attacked the rival goal with Selvy Fernandes pulling all the strings. It was Fernandes who put Baida into the lead again when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net. However Valsyn Conceicao came to the rescue of Secreavaddo again and equalised with stiff grounder. Selvy Fernandes had the last laugh after scoring his 3rd goal to give his side a win in the all important final.
