PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday termed the ‘all-party delegation’ scheduled to meet Union Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari yet another instance of deep friendship between the BJP, Congress and partner parties to sell the interests of the State to favour a few at the cost of the common man.
“Few MLAs of both parties whose stakes in the mining business is no secret are grouping together in the name of all-party meet. AAP, which is fundamentally based on the tenet of Swaraj, demands that this delegation first spell out their course of dialogue with the people of the State who have a right to know what will be discussed and what will be the advantages/disadvantages of such a move,” AAP leader Siddhart Karapurkar said.
He added, “Mining wealth belongs to the people of the place and should be distributed equally and that is what the Supreme Court has hit upon, therefore AAP has suggested cooperative mining as solution. The all-party delegation is surely carrying the brief of the select few who have been enjoying mining wealth, as a payback for the funding they have been receiving for their political career.”
The AAP leader said the Chief Minister, who is reported to have guided the ‘all-party meeting’ should remember his claims of mining loot leading to closure of mining when he came to power in 2012 and not try to defy the orders of the highest court of the land.
“The two separate benches hearing the matter have submitted a similar order and thus affirmed that there is no scope for renewal of the leases adding that the government has a responsibility to uphold the law,” Karapurkar said.
