PANJIM: The trial has begun in the rape and murder case of perfumer Monika Ghurde in the Additional Session Court Mapusa, the argument before framing the charges are likely to commence soon.
The police had filed a 283-page indictment in the first week of January against the accused security guard Rajkumar Singh (22), charging him under Sections 302, 376, 392, 458, 342 and 506 of the IPC.
Ghurde was found murdered in a residential apartment in Saligao on October 6, 2016. The accused was apprehended within four days of the incident in Bangalore. The accused is presently in judicial custoday.
According to the indictment, the accused murdered Ghurde due to grudge against her as he was sacked from the duty of security guard following her complaint that he robbed her umbrella and he was also not paid two months’ salary by the society.
The indictment also has given the CCTV footage of Singh withdrawing money using the victim’s ATM card in Porvorim.
A senior police officer said that all clinching evidences have been submitted to the court.
