Slaughtering of animals suspected in Gandhi market

Illegal slaughtering of animals in the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council has come to the fore once again.

MARGAO: Illegal slaughtering of animals in the jurisdiction of Margao Municipal Council has come to the fore once again.

Suspecting that illegal slaughtering of bulls and oxen is being carried out in the Gandhi market area, the Margao Municipal Council has urged the Animal Husbandry Director to conduct surprise inspection of the area. “It is suspected that there’s slaughtering of animals in the wee hours at Gandhi market and the beef is sold unauthorisedly. This may lead to food poisoning upon consumption of such beef,” MMC Chief Officer Deepali Naik told the Animal Husbandry Director.
