Mining schemes extended

PANJIM: Giving further respite to mining-dependent people, Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) have extended the financial package to those who were left jobless after the mining ban was imposed, till December 31, and truckers who were left jobless till September 30 this year.

Government has made it clear that if mining does not resume within the said period, the schemes would be further extended for a period of one more year.
According to the notification issued by Director Mines Prasanna Acharya, the ‘scheme for providing financial relief to the truck (tipper) owners engaged in the mining operations in the mining-affected areas’ is been extended upto September 30 or commencement of transportation of ore. However, the existing beneficiaries in order to avail the continuation of benefit from January 1, 2014, shall be required to produce a certificate from the officer concerned of RTO.
