PANJIM: Days after concluding its Jana Gana Mana ‘Nomon Tuka Goykara’ programme in Panjim market, Congress on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) listing the problems faced by the vendors and people and given it 15 days to take action..
“There is no proper infrastructure, namely no proper lights, fans, improper wiring leaving public safety at risk. Also sopos have been broken, no fire safety mechanism in place and there is no proper hygiene. Also the toilets are stinking and the staircase other passages are very shabby,” states the memorandum submitted to CCP.
It also states that there is no proper management by CCP in regard to waste disposal and cleanliness while sopos are less compared to the number of vendors. GPCC informed CCP that vendors in the market are unable to do business as the ones outside are allowed to sit till 10.30 am beyond their timings of 9 am.
