The Margao Municipal Council will finally undertake the work of survey and reassessment in a bid to bring these households under the house tax net.
The work will get underway with effect from September 1 and would end on October 30, wherein 30 daily wage workers would visit the households to collect the required information from the owners and occupiers of the premises.
Armed with Authority letter from the Council, the workers would gather information about the households and premises which will help the Civic body to impose house tax.
It is learnt that there exists over 10,000 households in the Municipal jurisdiction which are not paying the house tax, but enjoy other benefits, including collection of house tax.
MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho and Chief Officer Y B Tawde has appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the staff to carry out the work smoothly and efficiently.
