He was speaking on the occasion of inauguration of Congress office at Curchorem in the presence of Leader of Opposition Digamber Kamat, South Goa District President Joe Dias, Curchorem Block President Pushkal Sawant, Councillor and former Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty)  Hodarkar, councillors and other office bearers.

Speaking further he said that BJP government has finished Goan economy putting people into financial difficulties and making their life miserable. “During mining boom, some BJP leaders could not see the money rolling in the hands of Bahujan Samaj people, improvement in their leaving standard and in order to put an end to their progress, BJP former leader late Manohar Parrikar stopped mining, spreading false allegation of Rs 35 crore mining scam and PAC report,” said Chodankar adding that BJP’s lie was exposed  when information was asked under RTI from BJP’s Prime Minister’s office wherein they said that there is no such scam occurred and Goa Legislative Secretary’s office said that there is no such PAC report available at all.

Criticising the functioning of the BJP government, he said that now they are organising power debates with their family party to divert the attention of the people from the main core issues which the Goans are facing. “If at all they want to debate let them debate why the church was demolished in Delhi, why mining stopped, why the three destructive linear projects are not stopped, why numbers of trees cut, why unemployment and the prices are rising, how to revive economy,” said Chodankar.

Congratulating Hodarkar and Congress workers for opening office, Kamat said that there is an atmosphere in favour of Congress and therefore there is a need to bring back all the Congress workers together. “People are comparing the functioning of our government and the present regime. People know how we controlled and helped them during floods in Canacona and how the things are moving now,” said Digamber.

“This is a mining belt and so many people came up and were happy in their life. There was money in the hands of even in poorest of poor because we never went against their jobs, business and source of income. We always tried to help them and because of that they put mining cases on me. I do not have a single truck or machinery or mine but still than they put cases to harass me,” alleged Digamber further stating that performance cannot be given by building bridges but by seeing how one can keep people happy without giving empty and false assurances.
