PONDA: Officials of Mandovi Hatcheries, engaged in poultry farm activities at Suktallem Mollem, claimed they suffered huge loss due to overflowing and flooding of their poultry farm due to the flooding of Mhadhei River on July 23.

The water of the river began rising at 6.30 am and within few minutes the water crossed the banks and entered into the farm.
The officials said their company had a broiler parent breeding farm for the past 20 years with a workforce of around 60 persons.
When the water entered their farm, the officials claimed they were shocked to see more than 25,000 parent birds dead due to the flood. Twenty-five tonnes of feed were drenched with the flood water and 14,000 hatching eggs were washed away.
The officials also said that lot of machinery from the farm was also damaged.
