A brilliant century by Vishal Singh (125) enabled Salgaocar Sports Club to be in the driver’s seat as it helped them to gain a huge vital first inning lead of 323 over Chowgule Cricket Club on the second day of GPL league at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, here on Wednesday .
Vishal Singh struck two sixes and 16 fours in his blistering 125. Keenan Vaz (63) and Sherbahadur (51) made useful contributions while overnight batsman Hemant Shetgaonkar missed his century by eight runs as he scored 92.
Salgaocar were 465 all out in119 overs. For Chowgule, Amog Dessai was the most successful bowler with 3 for 31. At stumps, Chowgule were 38 for 1 in their second innings in nine overs.
Chowgule CC (1st innings): 142 in 44.4 overs. Salgaocar (1st innings, overnight 131 for 1 in 43 overs): 465 all out in 119 overs (Vivek Kolambkar 30, Keenan Vaz 63, Hemant Shetgaokar 92, Vishal Singh 125, Navin Sharma 15, Sherbahadur Yadav 51.
