It is really shocking to know the recent news of the collision of the official car belonging to MLA Subhash Phaldesai with a motorcycle on a major road. The accident at the MES college junction caused the death of youth, Sunil Rathod and seriously injured the other. This junction has been an accident prone zone for a while since there are no traffic cops to control the traffic especially during peak hours.
This junction has witnessed many road accidents in the past at regular intervals of time. Even worse is when students drive in a haphazard manner violating traffic rules. It also poses a danger to pedestrians and students of the MES college. My question is, haven’t we learnt a lesson yet after the Subhash Phaldesai incident or are we waiting for yet another incident to
happen? Through this Citizen Herald column, I humbly appeal to the traffic authorities, Local MLA and transport minister to depute permanent staff at this junction and install CCTV cameras and electronic signal arrangement systems to avoid further road accidents. Herald is known for taking action immediately after the public grievances are published and we hope that an amicable solution will be met.
