ARAMBOL: Arambol Village Panchayat Sarpanch Bhikaji Naik has submitted his resignation from the post to the Director of Directorate of Panchayats citing health problems.
Naik in his four-month stint as sarpanch was praised for his able administrative skills and receptive behaviour. The charge will be handed over to Deputy Sarpanch Divya Gadekar temporarily once Naik’s resignation is approved.
The local body’s panchas consists of Anupama Mayekar, Sonali Majji, Santan Fernandes, Bernard Fernandes, Sushant Gaude, Gunaji Thakur and Rajni Ibrampurkar. The talk is that experienced former sarpanch Bernard Fernandes will be elected as the sarpanch once again. Meanwhile, locals have expressed annoyance over frequent transfers of panchayat workers.
Panchayat Secretary Francis Fernandes who was transferred to Arambol Village Panchayat from Dhargal Village Panchayat has been transferred once again merely after two months.
