PANJIM: The Education Department on Thursday informed managements of aided schools having Bal Rath buses to take stern action against defaulting persons and that the department will not make any compromises in this regard.
“Under the Bal Rath Scheme, the aided educational institutions were given Bal Rath buses and according to the scheme, the management of aided Institutions were required to engage bus drivers and attendants on contract basis for about 2 to 3 hours per day for transportation of students, but some organisations are creating a situation whereby the normal functioning of Bal Rath buses is hampered so as to get their demand satisfied at the cost of students,” Education Director Gajanan Bhat said.
Bal Rath Employees Union (BEU) are on an eight-day dharna from Tuesday at Azad Maidan protesting the government’s failure to regularise their services and address issues related to salaries and benefits.
