In a worrying incident highlighting concerns over school infrastructure, the roof of the Government Primary School at Thane-Sattari was ripped off by strong winds on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 5.30 pm, after school hours, ensuring that no students or staff were harmed.
Various parts of Sattari taluka experienced gusty winds on Saturday, causing significant damage in several locations. The roof at the Thane school was blown away, falling near the building and allowing rainwater to enter classrooms, damaging school property.

The school had been renovated by the GSIDC about five years ago, raising questions about the quality of construction. Parents and locals expressed relief that the incident did not occur during school hours, but voiced concerns over the disruption to classes as the school remains roofless.
This marks the third such incident involving school buildings in just three days. On Thursday, a ceiling fan fell in a classroom at the Government Primary School in Poriem-Sattari, injuring one student. On Friday, five students were hurt when a false ceiling collapsed at the Government Higher Secondary School in Sanguem.
