RAIA: Guardian Angel Sports Club blanked United Club Verna 3-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of 24th Bro Eulalio Vaz memorial football tournament organised by Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda at Don Bosco ground, Fatorda, on Monday.
Guardian Angel SC missed a chance to score through Sheldon Fernandes in the 4th minute. Then United Club of Verna Sanroy Albuquerque’s power-packed shot kissed the Guardian Angel SC’s post and went out of play in the 12th minute.
A tricky move by Guardian Angels SC’s Sheldon Fernandes gave a diagonal cross to Vitorino Fernandes, who rose high and took a header which crushed into the United Club of Verna net in the 33rd minute. Alton Vaz netted the second goal for Guardian Angel SC in the injury time and remained 2-0 lead at the lemon break
After resumption of second session, Guardian Angel SC dominated over United Club of Verna but United Club of Verna tried and tested Oswin Rodrigues, goalkeeper of Guardian Angel SC on many occasion. At the last quarter again, Vitorino scored his second goal to make the issue safe for Guardian Angel SC and complete his brace.
