Sesa FA Edge Past Bidesh XI 1-0 in Hard-Fought Goa Professional League Clash

MAPUSA/RAIA: Sesa FA played gallantly to register a hard fought 1-0 win over Bidesh XI in the Goa Professional League played at Duler stadium here on Thursday.
In the very 7th minute of play Fredsan Marshal sent a low cross to well positioned Omkar Shetgaonkar who drove a power packed strike which was brilliantly pushed for a corner by Sesa’s custodian Micky Dias.
Bidesh XI carried on their onslaught when in the 30th minute Fredsan gave a short pass to Omkar who released the ball to striker Clencio Pinto who had just the onrushing Sesa’s custodian to beat but failed miserably.
While Bidesh failed to score, in the 48th minute Sesa’s Jeff Dias was brought down by Bidesh Daniel Gomes inside the 18-yard box prompting referee Tejas Nagvenkar to point to the dreaded spot.
Sesa’s skipper Aman Rajbhar stepped forward to find his strike being saved by Bidesh custodian Ronal Gaunkar.
However in the 62nd minute Sesa’s T P Rohith caught the Sesa’s custodian on the wrong foot as her drilled a stinging 35-yard shot which crashed into the far corner of the goal 1-0.
Once again Bidesh colts went all out in search of the equalizer but their strikers failed to have a clear look at the rival goal.
In the 76th minute Bidesh unit were reduced to ten men with the sending off Daniel Gomes by referee Tejas for stamping the foot of Sesa’s Velito Rocha who was shifted to nearby hospital in the ambulance.
Sesa’s Venito Costa received the man of the match award from the hands of Mr Hillary Soares- owner of Bidesh XI.
Churchill Brothers FC edged past Pax of Nagoa SC 2-1 to collect full points at Nagoa panchayat ground.
Both teams were tied 1-1 at the breather. Danish Aribam gave the lead to Churchill Brothers in the 14th minute of the match. The lead was short-lived as Vanallawmtluanga equalised for Pax of Nagoa SC in the 24th minute of the match. The winning goal for Churchill Brothers was netted by Richard Costa in the 89th minute.
