The Counselling Cell of Swami Vivekanand Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s College of Commerce, Shiroda, celebrated World Mental Health Day on the theme ‘Mental Health as a Universal Right: Our Shared Responsibility in Crisis.’ The program aimed to promote awareness about the importance of mental well-being and to emphasise that maintaining mental health is a collective responsibility, especially during times of crisis. The event was hosted by the college counsellor, Florencia Souza. She encouraged everyone to create a safe and understanding environment for those experiencing mental health challenges.
The Professor and Principal, Achut Pednekar, highlighted how everyone can contribute to helping others by being compassionate, attentive, and supportive, particularly in moments of distress or crisis. Students presented a One-Act Play focusing on mental health awareness and the importance of empathy and communication in supporting individuals facing challenges. The performance effectively conveyed the need to break the stigma surrounding mental health.
The students organised a ‘Good Food, Good Mood’ activity featuring eight food stalls, symbolising the connection between good nutrition and positive mental health. A Short Quiz on Mental Health was also conducted to enhance awareness through participation and learning.
