The 26-year-old doctor who recently died by suicide in Satara has revealed harrowing details of alleged sexual assault and systemic harassment in a four-page suicide note, according to reports.
The medical officer, who served at the Phaltan sub-district hospital for nearly two years, accused Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne of raping her four times and subjected her to prolonged mental and physical abuse over a period of five months. In her note, the doctor also highlighted coercion to issue fake fitness certificates for accused individuals in police cases.

The harassment, she claimed, was not limited to police officers. In one instance, the doctor alleged that she was pressured by a Member of Parliament and two of his personal assistants after she refused to issue a certificate. The MP reportedly contacted her indirectly through his aides to intimidate her.
The young doctor had been just a month away from completing her mandatory rural service bond, after which she had planned to pursue a postgraduate degree. She had even written on her palm about the repeated assaults she endured, underscoring the severity of the abuse she faced.
Authorities have yet to comment on the allegations, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death and claims of misconduct are reportedly underway.
