Couples will soon be able to register marriages from any taluka: CM

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday announced that people in Goa will soon be able to register their marriages from any taluka of the State.

Speaking after chairing a review meeting with all sub-registrars on land and marriage registration at the Mantralaya in Porvorim, Sawant said the initiative aims to improve infrastructure and strengthen Information Technology (IT) systems in coordination with NIC officials.

“As promised, citizens will soon be able to complete their marriage registration from any taluka office in Goa,” Sawant stated. “As Law Minister, I held the first meeting with the Registrar and officials from all 12 taluka registrar offices, along with the IT Department and NIC, to resolve long-pending issues related to registration systems and infrastructure.”

He further informed that the registrar office in Mapusa has been renovated, while two more offices are preparing to shift to new premises. Sawant added that significant improvements will be visible within the next eight to ten days, ensuring smoother and more efficient operations across registrar offices.
