Dharmendra, the beloved icon of Hindi cinema’s golden era who brought warmth, charisma, and unforgettable performances to the screen, passed away peacefully in Mumbai on Monday at the age of 89 due to age related health issues. Dharmendra, one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved stars, was a defining figure of Bollywood’s golden era. Renowned for his versatility, he effortlessly excelled in action, romance, comedy, and drama, earning the title of Bollywood’s ‘He-Man.’ With iconic performances in films like ‘Sholay’ and ‘Chupke Chupke’, he became a cultural symbol of heroism and charm. His enduring legacy continues to inspire generations of actors and audiences alike. Dharmendra emerged during the 1960s and became one of Bollywood’s leading men through the 1970s and 1980s. He epitomized the “all-round hero”, able to do action, romance, comedy, and drama with equal ease. His on-screen charisma and charm made him a household name across India. Widely regarded as one of the most successful actors in the history of the Hindi film industry, in a career spanning six decades, Dharmendra appeared in over 300 films and ruled Bollywood for years.
